Experience Repeatability |
I love Canyon de Chelly,situated in Navajo Reservation,not well known but well worth. I find it intimate because Navajo Indians are still living and working in the fertile valley- due to the stream. The only drawback is that one needs a guide to visit the canyon floor. Next time I rent a horse with a guide. That would be fun! I took the only one trail that is open for the public: White House Ruins.Wonderful 800ft descent: 2.5 miles round trip,steep, rocky thru tunnels, cacti,lizards. Anasazi(the ancient ones)built their houses on ledges above the canyon floor.the 500ft sheer cliff is awesome. |
