BOS Logan Airport

Logan airport is a necessary evil. If you live right in Boston or Cambridge, it's okay, but otherwise you have to budget a solid extra hour for traffic or construction delays. The tunnels are the biggest pain (and $$ cost to go through), although the new Ted Williams tunnel is a big relief and definitely the tunnel to choose. No other alternative to the tunnels unless you're going far north on Route 1. The airport itelf is big, busy, and dirty. If only Providence was closer...

Did the Bridgeport Hospital Homerun 5k starting at the Bluefish stadium, down around the water and back. Nice flat course for the first run of the year - was pretty hot and humid though. Cramped up in 2nd mile and had to walk some - finished in an embarrassing 34:47. Probably shouldn't have gone out drinking the night before ;)

CVG Airport

Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport is a major connections hub for Delta. Clean, open spaces. It's a shame to have to stop there when so close to other East Coast final destinations, but if you have to, it works. There's a big bar in the middle of the main terminal to relax before the next leg.

ATL Hartsfield-Jackson Airport
2005

Experience

Repeatability

This is a very large airport, but fairly pleasant for its size. One big downside - the taxi line is always very long. Good choice for a connecting flight as delays are rare. About 20 minute drive from airport to downtown Atlanta.

Hood Canal

Experience

Easy dive, but very disappointed that captain refused to go out for the planned second dive due to 'choppy conditions'. The conditions were actually fine. On first dive, saw: lingcod eggs, dungeoness crab, rockfish, big starfish.

Dive off Carmel area, in a large cove surrounded by mansions and Pebble Beach golf course. A maze of healthy kelp and underwater walls. Very nice dive - see drawing for topography.

LAS McCarran Airport

It's Vegas!! Of course this is a great airport, with slot machines in the terminal. The little subway between terminals is pleasant, as is the large luggage claim terminal with all the banners advertising shows and concerts. Lines can get a bit long if leaving at a busy time, but they do a good job moving people through.
