Post-storm dive, so visibility poor. But pleasant dive - feeling very comfortable solo here. Large sheephead shadowed me for awhile. Went south at top of canyon. Decrease weight w/ steel tank to 20lbs. Water getting warmer. |

First night dive!!! Fantastic - very different from day diving. Lobsters and crabs out on open sand. Saw a pair of sting rays ~1ft. long at 70ft. depth. Towards end of dive - a huge ray swam by with large, protruding head. A BAT RAY! Breathtaking. Captured large lobster ~70ft. depth + released. Lots of shrimp! And octopi! During season, go lobstering at night! |

Similar to dive #30. Surge was much stronger, and I had buoyancy difficulties. Messed around too much with the lobsters. Good note: surfaced with extra air because had to descend again under kelp canopy. Dont want to have to do the 'kelp crawl'! |

Wreck Alley: Descend by buoy lines!! Failed to do so at first, was concerned, but found the wreck after ~5 min. at 85 ft. Slight wreck penetration through wreck. Not many fish. Was a little quick - slow down. Good safety stop. LOIS ANN is a fine operation, boat launch from Seaforth Sport Fishing on Mission Bay. |

Quite confident with this spot. Today - picked up Julian at airport - beautiful day. Visibility poor ~10ft, but better at depth. Used back-up light - too narrow but cord works well. Descended to record 105 ft. briefly. Navigation skills sharpening. Saw small stingray + bright pink plant. Long, safe ascent. |
