Went with Antje and El to La Jolla Music Society's Summerfest. Memorable chamber music evening, which I will never forget: Ravel's sonata in G min. for violin and piano, Bartok's Contrasts and Brahms' string sextet in G Major. Anne-Marie McDermott expressive. Jimmy Lin excellent. I find La Jolla Summerfest the best in the country. Located near the center of La Jolla (for dinner),everything is superior: the elegance of the players, a well designed program, the concert hall is intimate, the audience extremely well dressed and appreciative. For those who love classical music, this is a must event.

Caught a stand up comedy show at the Comeday Cellar on McDougal. 10$ cover, 2 drink minimum. Well worth it. The show very funny. Packed in a bit tight though.

Anybody who loves music (classical or other) has to make a visit to the W.Disney Concert Hall. It's a real happening. Frank Gehry's building is extraordinary. The steely exterior shimmers in the sun and is especially beautiful late in the afternoon. We walked the multi storied scultural interior gardens. Inside the Hall, the wooden curved multilayered ceiling evoking the sails and hull of a ship is gorgeous. The accoustics are superior. Before the concert we had a lovely dinner. Or course, all that is extremely expensive. A decent ticket cost more than 130$ per person. once a year treat!

Saw Tool play at Red Rocks - one of the best shows I've been to. The acoustics are great, the lighting had terrific effects on the huge natural rock walls, and, of course, Tool rocked.
