Dillon: 9000 ft high, surrounded by snowy fourteeners. One hour drive from Denver.Went sailing on Joe's boat. Takes an hour to sail from Dillon marina to Frisco's, where they have added nice anchor additions to their marina. Ate in Frisco at the newly built eating place next to the lake. Bad, bad food, only drink a beer. Took 10 mile round bike trip along the shores of the lake Dillon-Frisco- Dillon. Mellow and easy. In spring/summer is cool. Love biking in the high country.

After work we relaxed doing Waterton Canyon. Take Rte 121 off I 470E. Pass Lockheed and park left on route. Entrance across the street. Wide dirt road, mellow, easy, even for chidren. On left is Sth Platte River. Didn't measure distance but follow 5 miles until the Dam at right where there are picnic tables. Higher up route becomes steeper and after a 3/4 mile it becomes narrow, with switchback and more strenuous mountain biking. It joints the Colorado trail. We did a little of that but turned back. Easy access, for neighboring Denverites or friends visiting them. Not on week-ends please

Went to a mexican restaurant called "Bandito" in Littleton, suburb of Denver. Very warm interior. Staff nice and food very light, and tasty. Marguerita's are good tasting. Not too artificial tasting. Very moderately priced. I thank my friends Joe and Jules for inviting me and extracting me out of my splendid isolation.

Pierrot and I loved visiting Colorado Nat. Monument, because it is small, rugged with few visitors who bypass this little treasure on their way to Moab or Canyon Lands in Utah. Enter the park by car east in Grand Junction. It's a mighty high narrow 23 mile route with dramatic look-outs. Near the visitor centre the trail you have to do is Monument Canyon Trail, 6 miles in toto, first mile steep descent -not difficult-, the rest beautiful walk at the bottom of canyon. Admire Coke Ovens monoliths, around the 3 mile corner the Kissing Couple Rock and Independence Rock. Great vista camping on premise

Search & Recovery Specialty w/ Denver Divers.... Recover two objects (weight belts w/ marker) at bottom. Use lift bag to return object to beach. 1) Found both objects immediately but lost first one upon return with lift bag + object 2. 2) Very poor vis. John Gordon assisted in search and recovery for object 1. Passed course.

Navigation Specialty Course w/ Denver Divers. 1) Compass course from shore to white buoy (plane wreck) --- off target. 2) Compass course to buoy again --- off target. 3) Compass course from buoy to platform. Shifted west --- off target. 4) Compass course from 2nd platform to buoy ~100 ft. away. Great success! NOTES: Led three person group with rope, due to poor visibility. Nice plane wreck.

Best intensive skiing destination in Colorado, east of Vail, IMO. Mary Jane has dozens of black diamond slopes. Lots of moguls. Only downside is that side of the mountain gets shady earlier in the day. But then just shoot over to WP in the afternoon.

This is a very pretty, easy bike route that starts in the town of Morrison and goes through light hills to the east. At the top of the steepest hill (very doable) you can see the city of Denver below, Red Rocks amphitheater and the mountains to the west.

Saw Tool play at Red Rocks - one of the best shows I've been to. The acoustics are great, the lighting had terrific effects on the huge natural rock walls, and, of course, Tool rocked.
