Activity: Work/School State: California City: Oakland OAK Oakland Airport 2006 |
Experience Repeatability |
OAK is as good a way to get to SF, especially downtown, as SFO, thanks to the close BART proximity. It would be great if BART was in the airport, but it's a short bus ride, and from there right into the bay area rail system. Southwest has good deals into OAK. |

Activity: Work/School State: California City: San Diego SAN Airport 2007 |
Experience Repeatability |
Ah, the joy of a small airport in a large city. SAN has never been a problem checking bags with only a 1hr. lead time, and the terminal is clean and cozy. Be aware there are three terminals (1, 2, and a commuter terminal to go to LA). You can park for $0.50 for 1/2 hour if picking up a passenger - otherwise the on-airport parking is expensive ($20/day I think). Off-site parking is close and is available for $12 per day. |

Activity: Work/School Country: Honduras City: Tegucigalpa TGU Airport 2004 |
Experience Repeatability |
This was one of the scariest landings ever. The airport is nestled in the mountains of central Honduras, and the runway is SHORT. So much that the pilot on landing felt he didn't have enough space and so we did a 'relift' right as we were about to land, followed immediately by a sharp bank to avoid the mountains. SCARY as hell. |

Activity: Work/School State: New Jersey City: Newark EWR Newark Airport 2006 |
Experience Repeatability |
Newark is a valid alternative to JFK or LaGuardia if going to NYC, but never pleasant. The biggest problem is the bus wait to get into the city from the airport; the lines can be long and if in winter, it's a COLD wait. From EWR into NYC, the most popular stop is at Port Authority on 42nd and 8th, however there are other destinations as well. See www.newarkairport for more info. |

Activity: Work/School Country: Belgium City: Brussels BRU Brussels Airport 2005 |
Experience Repeatability |
BRU is a convenient hub located about 8 miles outside of Brussels. It is large, so be prepared with extra time if taking off from there, although the security check is faster than many other European airports. One gripe - the baggage claim area is very dirty. |

Activity: Work/School State: California City: Los Angeles LAX Airport 2007 |
Experience Repeatability |
LAX is surprisingly efficient for servicing such a large city. The parking lots are close to the terminals, and I recommend Lot 3. Remember the international terminal is called Bradley. MAKE SURE TO GET THERE MIN. 1.5 hrs. before - they are very strict. |

Activity: Work/School State: Illinois City: Chicago ORD Chicago O'Hare Airport 2006 |
Experience Repeatability |
Under construction is the dominant theme. Getting from one terminal to another is a mix of buses and walking through scaffolding and drywall. It may have improved over the last year, but in my 3 times flying in, found it challenging as a connection stop, and vaguely unpleasant as a final destination/ check-in airport. |

Activity: Work/School Country: USA East City: Washington D.C. IAD Dulles Airport 2005 |
Experience Repeatability |
Dulles Airport is actually in Virginia and about 40 minutes from Washington. The biggest inconvenience is the driving distance, otherwise it is a clean, well-run facility. Keep in mind the airport is large so an hour+ connecting interval would be recommended. More information at www.metwashairports.com |

Activity: Work/School Country: Mexico City: Tijuana TIJ Airport 2007 |
Experience Repeatability |
Best access if you are coming from the states is through the Otay Mesa border crossing 15 miles west of the primary TJ crossing. Be VERY observant for directions coming back out other wise you can really get lost. TIJ Airport: Parking is expensive at ~$20 per day for convenient spots in the garage. Flights can be purchased same-day right there before entering the terminal. Benches are not comfortable but there is a friendly bar to wait in. |

Activity: Work/School State: Louisiana City: New Orleans MSY New Orleans Aiport 2003 |
Experience Repeatability |
Just being in New Orleans makes this middle-of-the-road airport a bit better. Dominant impression: construction goes pretty slow here. It's at least a half hour drive to town from MSY, and directions are fairly clear. |
