This was a while ago - but probably not that much has changed. There's a boardwalk where you can rent bikes and go up and down, some shopping, belgian restaurants, etc. A nice place to visit on the beach in Belgium.

Got to Hoi An by flying into Da Nang from Hanoi, then taking a taxi service into Hoi An. Very nice town, the people were friendly, food was good, and there's definitely some culture to be enjoyed there. One day just walking down the street with another American friend, an elderly man waved to us and invited us into his home to sample his rice wine. How cool. Also, was there for Tet - the lunar new year. There was a big festival with dragon floats, etc., as well as a jar with marinated snake, frog, and bird head juice, from which people could do a shot - what a riot!

What a cool city to visit, especially if you're of the 'backpack tourist' type. I remember looking at a central Hanoi street intersection for 10 minutes in awe - no traffic lights, cars, rickshaws, mopeds, and pedestrians navigating like spaghetti through the maze. Eating bowls of soup from street vendors for $0.50. Was in Vietnam for about 10 days, centered out of Hanoi, and enjoyed it greatly.
