Shark dive! Went with great outfit Waihuka Adventure Diving. Expensive: 90 dlrs. Site 1.5 miles into sea. On boat with 10 fun canadians. Back flip.With rope straight down to 71 ft. There can be serious current. Watching from ledge see arrival of 15 to 25 sharks. Then for 15 min. swimming with sharks, all around you, sleek velvety bodies, attentive little eyes, with nervous remoras clinging to their bodies. Very cool. Then back to ledge to see sharks's frenzy over an open bucket of fishparts. Not for novice divers. My love again did something special, but that's another story!! |

divers from nearby states come here to do their open water certification or refresh their skills. It's an artesian well, 90ft deep, 80 ft diameter, sandy bottom. constant temp. of 61. got to dress 7 mil, hood and all other extras. visibility progressively worse as day goes on from 80 to 15 ft. Fun atmosphere around the well especially during week-end when many dive classes take place. We went in Nnovember when snow was on the ground. So cold! should go in summer when one can warm up from the frigid water. |
