8/4/07 - Went on my annual deep sea fishing on the Endeavor out of Seaforth landing in Mission Bay. Left at 10:00pm and started fishing at 5:30am about 60 miles south of SD - not quite TJ but didn't know what to name it. Caught a 22lb albacore tuna. Hooked a second but lost it in a tangle of lines. $205 for the boat. $6 to fillet and $20 tip. Breakfast and lunch included. Steve Kato gave me half of one of the 4 fish he caught. Gave out tuna on Monday and made poke too. Need a better recipe...want more spice.

Went shopping as part of my A-Phi reunion with Maggie, Linda, Bardon and Gaevert. What fun! Looked in the boutiques but I'm always hesitant to buy anything unless it's low risk because I might want to return it. Found a pair of capri denim pants at Gap (though absolutely nothing else was exciting), a ridiculously cute green jersey cotton top (my green thing!) from a cheap chic boutique and a meshy creme top from Banana. Was fun seeing the girls!

Went shopping with Selena in some district of Taichung. Became fixated on bubble skirts and HAD to find one. Did find a cute brown and white swirly one in a kind of silk material. Am next on a mission for a green top - primary green, of course!

Double Tree Golf Course. Well, I played pretty horribly. Probably the worst round ever since I started...okay, maybe not worst. I played with John Goode, Rich Lutz and Joe Wong from HP. I was filling in for someone in the HP golf league. I flew into the water with my first drive on Hole 1 and then barely cleared post-mully. We finished 18 but the 18th was definitely in the dark. Amazingly, we all were able to find our original balls by staying someone around where we needed to hit the ball.

Andre and I played a round of tennis at Tuffree Junior High, my old stomping grounds! Had forgotten the rules and how to play but it was fun. My hand turned blue from the really old racket grip. Went and got it regripped at Sports Authority in Brea. It was fun to have some time to shop!

Got four hours to clothes shop at the Fashion Valley Mall without the kids. Got a pair of white pants from Express that fit perfectly - nice and stretchy. Got a couple of saucy tops and a pair of white shoes from Nordy's. Was exhausted by the end of it. I'm not in shopping condition! Anyway, fun but not the most productive.

Didn't play that great on the front nine but did better on the back. Course is really short. Only two par 4s. I should play here more to work on my short game. Putting was awful. Missed about 4 within 2 feet! Nice day with Ben and Masha though.

The hotel's buffet for breakfast was fantastic. Definitely European style-fare with luncheon meats, etc. but I thought the fruits were fresh and the breads were excellent. Lots of juice choices, etc.

Hayes Street. Bought my first real piece of artwork! A $600 painting (probably should have tried to negotiate it down) from an artist named Carol Aust. Bought it from a store called Zonal and the store owner's name was Russell E. Pritchard. 568 Hayes Street. 415-255-9307. Zonalhayes@earthlink.com. Zonalhome.com.
